Caroline is a 39 years old proud mum of three boys of 12y, 8y and 8 months. Originally from Austria, she has been living in the UK since 2003.

“After having taken the A-Levels in Austria I studied imitation of marble and wood in Brussels. I also studied and worked as a judiciary translator and interpreter for french and english in Munich, Marseille and London, and then did porcelaine painting. Now i´m baking cakes.”

The inspiration and the love for baking cakes came from her childhood, from her village in Austria and her parent´s house where parties and dinners were always prepared to the detail and with delicious food.

“Coming from a large family who loved entertaining from small dinner parties, over cocktail parties to soirees my sisters and I were exposed to the ‘art’ of entertaining from a very young age.

But in the countryside of Austria where I grew up we didn’t have caterers or stores where you could buy readymade party food.”

So the women in the village were cooking their delicious specialities “salty or sweet”, that were always beautifully presented and taken to the house when needed. Her parents are both great cooks and Caroline and her sisters would do the rest. But besides all this family talent, there was a special person who inspired Caroline the most.

“One woman in our village inspired me most with her cakes and cookies which she was letting us taste on a regular basis. They were eye-wateringly delicious! She was the reason that started me on cakes, especially after having moved to London as my beloved Austrian cakes were unavailable here.”

Caroline husband is french so she thought she had to add French recipes to her repertoire as well.

“Whenever we entertained I used to try new recipes on my guests until … well until my friends started to suggest that I should sell these cakes and savouries that I bake and make in my own kitchen with ingredients from local shops. It took me a while but well … here we are!”

London is Caroline´s home. She loves the fact that is “tremenduously” international and that people are friendly. Her favourite place is Richmond Park because… “you can get a country girl into the city but you will never get the country girl out of her.”
